Its that time of year when the cows come home for the winter. The ground quickly becomes poached and the cattle would be left belly deep in mud should we leave them outside all year round. These young heifers and cows have been out all summer with ‘Bobbie Brown’, our new Hereford stock bull. We still have our homebred red Holstein bull Kredit – hes a big chap these days, and spends his time with the low-yeild milking cows, sweeping up those who have not been A.I’d. We have recently registered calf number 4000, so along with a busy harvest and planting season there have been a lot of new additions to the Mawley herd.
Some of our local followers may have read about a bull who escaped in our neighbouring town of Bewdley – scary incident all round for the public and no doubt the escapee too. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hereford-worcester-37675777)
